Man United owners Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS are in "shambles" after Dan Ashworth's departure, according to the club's former chief scout.

Mick Brown, who spent over a decade at United during the club's most successful period and remains very well-connected there, exclusively told Football Insider that the owners are "turning people against them" by making "bizarre" decisions.

Ashworth's departure is the latest in a long line of controversies under the controlling ownership's watch, with fans staging protests against a surprised ticket price hike.

This decision followed the decision to dismiss 250 employees in a mass cost-cutting exercise upon their arrival, leaving many shocked and angry.

Sources say it was Sir Alex Ferguson who stepped in to intervene, weeks after having his own multi-million pound ambassadorial deal cancelled by the owners.

As a result, Brown has insisted INEOS are alienating large parts of the fanbase and the staff at United, with protests against their decisions expected to continue.

INEOS slammed after controversial Man United decisions

There has been an ever-growing list of controversies and questionable decisions under the ownership at Man United, which has led to strong backlash from the fanbase.

Brown, who has a wealth of experience working closely with owners and managers including the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson and Ron Atkinson at successful clubs, has insisted INEOS are making no progress to improve United's situation.

"The whole thing is a shambles," he told Football Insider.

"What's happened with Ashworth is only proof of the concerns people have about INEOS.

"I can't remember one decision they've made which has been positive for Man United.

"They're like the Glazers' henchmen. The Glazers didn't want to upset anybody, so they let INEOS take over and they made all the decisions which upset people.

"They've alienated everybody who has had anything to do with the club.

"From supporters groups to senior officials, former players and managers to some of their own staff, as we see with Ashworth.

"They've paid out millions of pounds in compensation to people who they appointed - Erik ten Hag and Dan Ashworth.

"That's while they're sacking members of staff in an attempt to save money.

"It's bizarre, they keep turning people against them with these outrageous decisions which do nothing to help the club beyond them taking more control of what goes on there.

"The whole thing is a shambles and fans are starting to see it now, because they're already protesting, and it wouldn't surprise me if they continue."
