Man United are prepared to accept a cut-price offer for Andre Onana after Monaco made contact over a permanent summer transfer.

Mick Brown, who worked at Old Trafford for over a decade during the club's most successful period and remains very well-connected there, exclusively told Football Insider that the Ligue 1 outfit have made contact with United over a move.

Ruben Amorim is believed to be inviting offers for the 29-year-old and will move quickly to sign a new goalkeeper if an acceptable bid arrives.

This comes after Football Insider revealed on 23 June that Man United want to sign a new goalkeeper, but can only do a deal if Onana is sold.

A number of options are already being considered behind the scenes, with Emiliano Martinez the favourite for the role despite rival interest from Atletico Madrid.

Football Insider revealed on 25 May that United are well-placed to sign Martinez from Aston Villa if they can shift Onana, with the Argentine top of their list.

Man United make Andre Onana exit decision amid Monaco interest

Brown told Football Insider on 19 June that United are planning to accept offers for Onana as Amorim is keen to upgrade between the sticks this summer.

The former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment and also worked for the likes of Tottenham, West Ham and Aston Villa, insisted talks are ongoing behind the scenes to reach an agreement over the keeper's exit.

"Monaco are the latest team interested in Onana," he told Football Insider.

"They've made contact about how much it might take to bring him in and whether United would be willing to let him go.

"At this stage, I think they're keen to move him on and they're working towards that end.

"They'll have to take a hit on his price tag because they won't get back what they paid for him.

"Ruben Amorim would like to bring in a new goalkeeper to upgrade on Onana.

"If they can move him on, no matter how much they manage to sell him for, they're going to use that money to go and sign his replacement.

"They've been working to identify who they want that replacement to be, and there are a few options.

"So it's like dominos - if the Onana transfer goes through, it will trigger a lot of other movement."

John Victor transfer update emerges at Old Trafford

Amid ongoing speculation surrounding Onana's future, United are assessing their options between the sticks and planning to bolster their squad.

Football Insider exclusively revealed on 25 June that Man United want Botafogo goalkeeper John Vitor amid a long-held interest in the Brazilian.

The 29-year-old has impressed at the Club World Cup after keeping a clean sheet against Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain.

Football Insider revealed last December that Man United were plotting a winter move for John following his key role in Botafogo’s historic Copa Libertadores victory.
