Henderson told by England legend 'those days are over' after Man United transfer report

Dean Henderson will not be allowed to leave Man United on loan this January.

So says ex-England shot-stopper Paul Robinson, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the latest news surrounding the 24-year-old.

The goalkeeper is seeking a temporary move away from United ahead of the mid-season window, as per The Sun on 22 September.

Henderson’s only senior football this term came during the Red Devils’ League Cup defeat to West Ham last week.

He is currently struggling with long-Covid, and David De Gea has been Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first choice between the sticks.

But Robinson tells Henderson to think again if he thinks he will be able to force a loan move away from Old Trafford in January.

“I can’t see that he would be allowed to leave on loan,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.

“Henderson’s days of going out on loan are over. He could get his chance this year because United are competing on a lot of different fronts.

“I expected him to be the number one this season, especially after the way he finished last season.

“But he missed a little bit of pre-season and then he was missing for a while because of Covid.

“It’s an unfortunate position for him because De Gea has played really well. He has had a really good start to the season.”

Henderson featured 26 times in all competitions last season, including 13 times in the league, after signing a £100,000-a-week contract in the summer of 2020.

The United academy graduate spent the 2018-19 and 2019-20 campaigns on loan at Sheffield United.
