Viktor Gyokeres, Goncalo Inacio, Ousmane Diomande and Marcus Edwards are all on a long list of potential signings at Man United, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider's Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O'Rourke revealed that the Sporting CP stars are under consideration amongst a number of other potential signings.

However, sources say there is unlikely to be a repeat of Erik ten Hag's policy of signing former players, with the transfer team at Old Trafford set to make the decisions.

While Amorim will have some influence on the club's transfer activity, and is expected to look to reunite with some former stars, he will not have the full say.

The board are said to be aware of the mistakes made under Ten Hag's guidance, and are keen to avoid making the same errors again.

Instead, they will only make moves for players who they feel are the right fit for the club and would serve to improve their side.

Man United make transfer decision as four stars could reunite with Ruben Amorim

Despite Amorim not having yet been announced as the new Man United manager, multiple Sporting stars have been linked with a move to follow him to Manchester.

However, any of his former players who could follow him to the club will be considered by the club's new-look transfer team before the deal is done.

Director of football Dan Ashworth, technical director Jason Wilcox, CEO Omar Berrada and interim recruitment director Christopher Vivell will have the final say on incoming deals.

This comes following a period in which Ten Hag was heavily backed to bring in his own top targets regardless of their fit or long-term future at the club.

The likes of Antony were brought in on the word of the manager and have subsequently failed to make an impact - a mistake the club are now desperate to avoid.
