Manchester United have received a major transfer boost in their bid to land Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale this summer as the club are willing to listen to offers, according to a report.
Spanish outlet Don Balon claims that the 28-year-old is no longer indispensable at the Bernabeu as the La Liga champions are looking to secure the signature of AS Monaco striker Kylian Mbappe in a matter of days.
The report claims Mbappe’s imminent arrival has encouraged Madrid’s club president Florentino Perez to believe that Bale is no longer required at the club.
The report claims United are fully aware of the situation and Perez is willing to negotiate with the Premier League side if they are prepared to offer around £89.5million for the Welshman.
It is said that the Manchester club are ready to do everything within their power to land the winger and the player himself is keen to return to the Premier League to work under United boss Jose Mourinho next season.
It is reported that there could be news about a potential transfer in the upcoming weeks.
Bale has enjoyed four successful seasons with the club from the Spanish capital, securing three Champions League trophies and a La Liga title.
The Welshman’s current contract at the Bernabeu expires in 2022.
Football Insider verdict
It is no secret to anyone that United have been looking to snap up Bale for a number of years now. The Welshman’s future at the Bernabeu will look uncertain should Madrid sign Mbappe this summer as it would surely mean that Bale would have to settle for a place on the substitutes bench. Last season due to a series of injuries, the Welshman was replaced by Spanish playmaker Isco and with Madrid looking to add more firepower to the squad, he might be tempted to depart the club. Of course, the question would be why would he want to leave arguably the biggest club in the world but he is not getting any younger and he has already achieved everything in Spain. There is the slight possibility that Bale might be attracted to the idea of being the main man and helping United to win their first Premier League title in four years.
