Belgium boss Roberto Martinez has said that Toby Alderweireld is "completely fit" and that "as far as I'm concerned, he is ready to play."

The enforcer is currently with his country on international duty.

Martinez was quoted on the PhysioRoom Twitter account, a solid source of injury information.

Belgium are due to play Saudi Arabia on Tuesday and it would be the first time Alderweireld has played since his two FA Cup appearances against Newport and Rochdale.

Alderweireld hasn't played in the Premier League since October and manager Mauricio Pochettino has said that his rehabilitation needs to be carefully managed.

Football Insider verdict:

All Tottenham fans will be delighted to hear this, although they'd much rather hear it from their own manager. He has been much more cautious about Alderweireld and it's interesting that Martinez used the words "as far as I'm concerned". That suggests there is a difference of opinion between international and club managers, and now Spurs fans will be desperate to hear that he makes it through the game if he does indeed play. Pochettino will no doubt be contacting Martinez and asking him to go easy, or not pick him for the meaningless game.
