Burton manager Nigel Clough has confirmed that midfielder Luke Murphy will miss the weekend clash against Leeds due to the loan agreement.
The 27-year-old has been on loan at the Midlands club since January after finding himself well down the pecking order under Garry Monk.
He has however impressed at Burton, starting all but two of their 17 Championship games since his move.
Murphy is now set to sit out of the weekend fixture at the Pirelli Stadium and Clough has described it as a “big blow” to his team in his pre-match press conference on Wednesday morning.
“It’s a big blow missing Luke against his parent club, he’s been one of our most consistent players,” told Clough, as shown via the official Burton website.
“His fitness has improved but it’ll do him good to get a breather too.”
Murphy joined Leeds from Crewe in the summer of 2013 for a fee believed to be over £1million.
The talented midfielder had featured in 111 matches for the Yorkshire giants during his time at the club, returning seven goals and six assists.
However, he was left out of every one of Monk’s match day squads in the league and was only able to make one EFL Cup appearance against Luton in the EFL Cup under the summer appointment.
Murphy still has two years left on his contract at Leeds, but his time could be cut short if he continues to impress at Burton.
In other Leeds news, Monk has delivered a key fitness update ahead of the weekend fixtures.
