Adam Wharton to Man City update after summer spending spree
Adam Wharton will not be on Man City's radar in January as Crystal Palace stand firm against letting him leave, sources have told Football Insider.
City saw an enquiry to sign Wharton rebuffed late on in the summer transfer window.
Palace rejected the Citizens' approach by insisting that he was not for sale at any price ahead of the 1 September deadline.
They have held an interest in his services for over 12 months, but now have a well-stocked midfield after the arrivals of Ayyoub Bouaddi and Enzo Fernandez.
Palace will stand in the way of him leaving in January too, and City have no plans to make another approach following the turn of the year.

Wharton has proven his worth as one of the Premier League's best holding midfielders at Palace over the last three seasons since joining from Blackburn.
He was key to their Conference League triumph last term, registering seven assists and one goal in 53 appearances across all competitions.
City have long been interested in his signature, with the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and Man United also believed to admire his talents.
Sources have exclusively revealed to Football Insider that Palace have an informal agreement with Wharton to allow him to pursue another opportunity next summer.
It would, therefore, come as a surprise to see him leave Selhurst Park in the middle of the season, particularly with City now having real depth in their midfield.

He heaped praise on Wharton while speaking about his situation to reporters last week, saying: "The club was strong with his situation and the player is completely in line with that. He never spoke with me about a possible departure, that's why I think he is in a project to manage his career and he is really smart to do it like this.
"He did the job every day without a bad mindset and that's why I understood quickly he wanted to stay and prepare his future with us. He is really smart to stay one more year and maybe more, because he has 10 years (playing) after that."
