The Premier League will be urged to usher through the verdict of Manchester City's appeal, sources have told Football Insider.

Man City have been found guilty of 114 breaches of Premier League rules.

However, the process has been elongated through the Manchester side deciding to appeal the verdict.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, it would not be a good public look for the league if the sanctions are delayed.

The ongoing uncertainty has left clubs and supporters waiting for clarity over one of the biggest disciplinary cases in Premier League history.

There is now growing pressure for the matter to be brought to a conclusion, especially with how the current season is panning out.

Man City sanctions verdict must arrive before Premier League title is decided

With Manchester City on a 100 per cent win rate in the Premier League, and sitting top of the table, pressure is growing for the sanctions to arrive.

If Enzo Maresca and his squad end up winning the title, and the punishment is not handed down this season, that would certainly cause a fuss throughout the rest of the league.

It would raise serious questions about the integrity of the competition, particularly among clubs who feel they have been disadvantaged.

The Premier League could also face scrutiny over the case, with the timing of any punishment just as important as the sanctions themselves.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I shared: "For everybody connected with English football, ideally these sanctions need to be decided by the end of the season for the integrity of the Premier League.

"Because it would look really bad if City were to go on and win the league and still no decision made on these charges that are against them."

Sanctions post-season would be an unwanted headache

If sanctions against Man City are handed down after the season has concluded, it would create an even bigger headache for the Premier League.

Should City win the title before being stripped of it, supporters of the second-placed team would be denied the true feeling of celebrating a Premier League title win.

Celebrations would not be as vibrant should they have lifted the title on the final day, and it would ultimately ruin, or dim the lights on the moment.

If a points deduction is decided, it needs to happen before the end of the season.
