Elliott Anderson cost Manchester City £116million but he continued to show he is worth the money against Liverpool.

When it comes to signings at that level of spending, the pressure is certainly higher than most.

Often players have struggled to reach expectations, and while Anderson is still in the early stages of his Man City career, he is proving himself at the top tier of Premier League football.

With the 114 guilty charges put on Manchester City, there was always a chance for Anderson to be distracted ahead of facing Liverpool.

But he proved to have his mind fully on the game, earning the man of the match. He earned the praise of Sky Sports' heavyweight pundit duo Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher, with the latter claiming "he looks a bargain for the money City paid, ridiculous as it sounds".

While also making some significant personal history not many can say they have achieved.

The Anfield stat Elliott Anderson only shares with seven other players

Focus ahead of Liverpool versus Manchester City was largely on the Premier League's case against the Citizens.

However, the Manchester side took the game in their stride, picking up a 3-0 win, with midfielder Anderson at the heart of it.

Anfield is becoming a stomping ground for Anderson, who has had lots of joy at the Reds' home stadium.

The 3-0 win on Sunday afternoon was his third in a row against the Merseyside club in L4.

And winning three on the bounce at Anfield is only a feat achieved by seven other footballers.

At a ground notoriously known to be one of the toughest away days in the Premier League, Anderson is making it his own personal playground.

Against the Reds, he simply ran the show as well, playing a significant part in that victory.

According to FotMob, no player took more touches than the Englishman's 100, while he also covered the most distance on the pitch with 11.5 kilometres.

A workhorse performance that rightfully earned him the place on that elite Anfield list.

Anderson has taken football's hardest job in his stride

Not many in football can replace the absence of a Ballon d'Or winner, and Anderson has managed to do that.

Man City have won 100 per cent of their Premier League games so far, with Rodri's exit proving to have had a lesser impact than expected.

That is simply testament to the quality that the Englishman possesses, and at 23 years old, he has plenty of time to get even better.
