James Trafford: Players you didn't know played for Leeds and Man City after transfer latest
Leeds United could soon have a deal agreed for Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford.
Despite returning to the Etihad Stadium last summer, believed to be coming back at the first-choice option, he spent much of 2025-26 on the bench.
Very few could blame Pep Guardiola for signing Gianluigi Donnarumma for such a bargain in the same window, but it did stifle the Man City academy star's development.
Newcastle United have been long-term admirers of the England international, but a move to Elland Road looks increasingly likely now.
Several reports have emerged recently, with the shot-stopper believed to be leaning towards Daniel Farke's side ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
If the move were to go through this summer, Trafford would certainly be joining an interesting group of players to feature for both Leeds and Man City.
Darren Huckerby
Although known for his days at Norwich City, and still loved at Carrow Road, Darren Huckerby kicks off our list of surprising players to feature for both.
The forward joined Leeds from Coventry City in 1999, where he made 57 appearances across all competitions, before joining the Citizens in 2000.
He was far more prolific during his three years at Maine Road, though, with 31 goals in 82 games, as well as a Championship title, before leaving on back-to-back loans and then a permanent move to Norwich.
He did also feature for both Leeds and Man City, though, joining the former from the Blues in 1998, before having a loan spell at the latter.
Following that season-long loan, his move to Maine Road was made permanent, where he went on to make 80 appearances, before leaving again.
Robbie Fowler
A slight more surprising name is Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler.
Known and loved for his performances at Anfield, where he won three FA Cups, a Europa League and two EFL Cups, the striker also had spells away from the Reds.
After eight years on Merseyside, Fowler joined Leeds in 2001, scoring 14 goals in 33 games, before joining Man City in January 2003.
There, he netted 28 goals in 92 games, though both spells were impacted by either fitness or team struggles on the pitch.
Ian Poveda
Another name that many have forgotten about is Ian Poveda, who spent time at Sunderland, before joining Colombian side Internacional de Bogota in February.
The winger was tipped to be a huge talent during his time in the Man City academy, but he made just one senior appearance before leaving in 2020.
He then moved to Elland Road, where he battled for a starting spot when not being loaned out, much like Jack Harrison, but it never worked out.
Poveda even made his international debut for Colombia during his time with the Whites, but there is still very little to shout about in his career.
