Man City make Tijjani Reijnders transfer decision
Enzo Maresca is keen to give Tijjani Reijnders a chance to impress at Man City despite rumours of a possible exit, sources have told Football Insider.
Reijnders struggled to nail down a consistent spot in Man City's starting eleven last season following a £46million move from AC Milan.
New manager Maresca is evaluating all options available to him this summer as he takes on the almighty task of succeeding Pep Guardiola.
Reijnders' future at the Etihad Stadium has been plunged into doubt amid talk of a possible departure this summer.
Despite those rumours, as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Reijnders will have the chance to earn a place in his side before a decision is made on his future.
The 27-year-old recently impressed at the World Cup with the Netherlands, despite their round of 16 exit to Morocco.
Tijjani Reijnders not set for immediate Man City exit despite recent rumours
Reijnders registered 14 goal contributions in 50 appearances for City last term, but only started in three of their final 12 games of the campaign.
He has been linked to the likes of Galatasaray, Juventus and Milan this summer, but is set to be given a chance by Maresca.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "Reijnders has got a big pre-season ahead of him as he tries to impress the new Man City manager, Enzo Maresca. He started really well last season, but then lost his place under Pep Guardiola.
"It's a clean slate for him and everybody at City under Maresca, so Reijnders will be hoping that he can become a regular in the side. He had a decent World Cup for the Netherlands, so it doesn't surprise me that other clubs are looking at him."
Maresca will also assess Jack Grealish after Man City return
It is a clean slate for every single senior City player this summer as Maresca shapes his squad to his liking.
Sources have exclusively revealed to Football Insider that Maresca wants to offer Grealish a second chance at the Etihad after his loan spell at Everton.
The 30-year-old impressed with the Toffees before his campaign was cut short by a serious foot injury in January.
They remain keen to sign him permanently this summer, but Maresca could include in him his squad if he impresses in pre-season training.
