Man City to lose many of their stars for 'cut-price' fees in new twist - Stefan Borson

Published on:

Manchester City are likely to lose some of their biggest names for the fraction of the cost that they were signed for.

That is according to former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider that clubs from around Europe will be ready to pounce next summer.

Man City's owners have now appealed against the Premier League's 114 charges, a situation that has seen rival fans wanting relegation and multi-year transfer bans.

It is believed that the Citizens already had knowledge of the guilty verdict before splashing the cash on the likes of Enzo Fernandez, Ayyoub Bouaddi and Elliot Anderson.

Despite the verdict, the owners continue to plead their innocence, hence the appeal, but attention has already turned to what this means for the squad.

Football Insider already understands that Enzo Maresca has no intention of managing in the Championship again, and he would be the least of the club's worries.

'Man City's prices are going to fall'

With Erling Haaland, Phil Foden, Marc Guehi and Gianluigi Donnarumma, to name just a few, all appreciated around Europe, major exits could follow.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson has raised the alarm bells, suggesting that City would have no choice but to lower the price tags significantly.

"I think the opportunities, probably, for all other clubs, are more going to be on the bigger players," he explained.

"And there just isn't going to be the necessary liquidity in the market to soak up many of the biggest players. There's just not that much money around.

"There's only four or five teams that can buy a lot of these players. So ultimately the prices are going to fall. It's simple supply and demand."

What does the future hold for Erling Haaland?

Football Insider understands that Arsenal and Real Madrid have already made contact with Haaland's representatives.

Man City signed the superstar striker for £51.2million, but any interested clubs could seal his signature for a fraction of that fee in a few months.

He won't be the only one either. Mick Brown told Football Insider that Guehi could still sign for Liverpool, having missed out on him previously.

There are several others, but supporters will pray that Phil Foden stays behind and fights to take his boyhood club back to the Premier League, should they be relegated.
