Man City will have Josko Gvardiol regrets after what Croatian media said about display vs England
Manchester City have put an end to the rumours surrounding Josko Gvardiol and his future at the Etihad Stadium.
It had emerged that both Real Madrid and Bayern Munich had been circling for his signature, despite his current deal expiring in the summer of 2028.
Gvardiol had become a favourite under Pep Guardiola, but thanks to some injury issues, the defender often found himself battling for a spot on the pitch.
Now, however, Man City have struck an agreement with the centre-half over a new five-year deal, soon to be announced by the Premier League giants.
Right now, Gvardiol is away on international duty with Croatia, and their opener against England on Wednesday, 17 June, was a rather frustrating encounter.
Despite equalising twice, the Three Lions eventually claimed a 4-2 win at the Dallas Stadium, and the Man City man had a major role to play in Croatia's defeat.

As well as being blamed for Harry Kane's second goal, losing him at a corner kick, the defender also gave the Bayern Munich star a chance to retake his saved penalty.
Gvardiol had encroached before the spot-kick was taken, meaning he was able to clear the ball before any attackers could follow the ball up.
Awarding him a 5.5/10 rating, CroatianSports simply wrote: "Looked off today and not fully fit. Just didn’t dominate like he usually does."
Germanijak were just as harsh, if not more, writing: "It was a bad game. He misjudged the flight of the ball at Bellingham's goal, which rushed to his side.
"This time he was not so present in the offensive, but he still has to take advantage of an opportunity like the one he had in injury time."
Given his performance, there will be every chance that the Citizens regret not cashing in on the interest, rather tying him down for the next half-a-decade.
Man City already have simple solution to Gvardiol's struggles
Gvardiol has played a lot of games at left-back since his arrival at Man City, with plenty of cover already available in the centre of defence.
With the breakout of academy star Nico O'Reilly, though, his services aren't needed in the position anymore, with the youngster totally eclipsing him on the international stage.
In the same game, O'Reilly created two chances, had a header saved, completed 100 per cent of his dribbles, entered into 10 duels, and even won a foul for his team [FotMob]
O'Reilly is far more dangerous in the final third, and with his ability to move into midfield, Gvardiol is already at risk of slipping down the pecking order under Enzo Maresca.
