Divine Mukasa has been staking a serious claim to be involved in Manchester City's squad for next season as he almost saved Leicester City from relegation on Tuesday night.

The Foxes drew 2-2 at home to play-off chasing Hull City in the Championship, as they failed to secure the three points that they needed to avoid slipping into League One.

Gary Rowett's side have endured a dismal campaign upon their return to the second tier, and their back-to-back relegations were sealed, despite the best efforts of their loan starlet.

Mukasa has been a key figure for the East Midlands outfit since he made the switch from the Etihad Stadium back in January, and his parent club will have surely been keeping a close eye on him.

Manchester City could win another Premier League title in the coming weeks, but that shouldn't stop them from trying to throw a talented youngster into the fold in Mukasa.

Divine Mukasa Leicester's best player as survival hopes end

Mukasa has quickly become an integral part of Leicester's fight against relegation since the start of his loan move, and he already has two goals and three assists from 13 games prior to Tuesday night.

The 18-year-old has shouldered a large chunk of the creative burden for Rowett's men in recent weeks, and that proved to be the case again on Tuesday night, despite the high-stakes situation.

Mukasa's stats in Leicester's draw with Hull, as per Fotmob.

The attacking midfielder played with bravery beyond his years against Hull, and he was arguably the most threatening player for his team, as he created four chances, notched two successful dribbles and provided plenty of quality deliveries into the box.

Mukasa turned in a courageous display, which should have sent signals to his parent club that he is ready to handle and perform on the biggest stage.

His Leicester loan spell has been hugely productive for his development, and he was by far the most likely candidate to save them from relegation on Tuesday.

He made his Premier League debut for Manchester City earlier in the campaign, and Pep Guardiola must surely find a place for him to get more minutes at the Etihad next term after the way that he has flourished in the Championship.

Man City could look at Premier League loan for Mukasa

Mukasa signed a new contract at Manchester City before they loaned him out back in January, and it is clear that they see a bright future ahead for him.

Guardiola has often been keen to try and nurture and shelter young talents in recent years, but it can also benefit some young players to be thrown in at the deep end with continual challenges.

Mukasa's spell at Leicester has proved that he is ready for Premier League football one way or another next term, whether that be at City or elsewhere.

The Citizens should be looking to try and get him minutes from the bench and in the domestic cup competitions, but they could even look at a top-flight loan spell if they do not feel that is achievable right now.

Mukasa's form at Leicester will surely mean that there would be plenty of potential suitors for the starlet next term, if his parent club opted to go down the route of another loan deal.
