Revealed: Erling Haaland's stance on leaving Man City to join giants

Erling Haaland is happy at Man City and has no plans to leave for Barcelona, sources have told Football Insider.

The Catalan giants are keen admirers of his services as Hansi Flick targets a big-name striker signing in the next 12 months.

Haaland fits the bill for several top clubs as he goes from strength to strength at Man City each season.

He is learning to work under a new manager in Enzo Maresca and has begun the campaign in predictably fine form.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, he is in no rush to quit the Etihad Stadium and remains on good terms with everyone at the club.

The burly Norwegian is under contract at City until 2034, with a release clause only set to come into effect in 2030.

Haaland has bagged four goals in as many Premier League appearances so far this season following an impressive World Cup campaign.

His Citizens tally is up to 168 strikes in 204 appearances since 2022, and he could break all kinds of club and league records in the years to come.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "The key here for Haaland and City is he's happy at Manchester City, and City are obviously very happy with him still scoring goals at a staggering rate.

"Getting him out of City is going to be a totally different prospect for Barcelona. Obviously, his price tag, as well, would be huge to try and even get him out."

Man City could trigger James McAtee buy-back clause

City agreed to sell McAtee to Nottingham Forest for around £30million in 2025 after making 34 senior appearances for the club.

The deal included a sell-on and buy-back clause, and sources have revealed to Football Insider that City could re-sign McAtee using the latter option as he finds his feet under Oliver Glasner.

While many fans are keen to see him back at the Etihad as an option under Maresca, the move would likely be to protect his value and sell him on for an even bigger fee.
