Rodri and Ruben Dias could lead eight-man Man City exodus, one will go to Tottenham - Stefan Borson

Manchester City could lose more than just Bernardo Silva and John Stones with up to eight potential big-name departures ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

That is according to former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider that City will soon need to take action on their rising wage bill at the Etihad Stadium.

It is becoming increasingly likely that the Citizens add Nottingham Forest's Elliot Anderson, despite having another bid rejected, with Evangelos Marinakis holding out for £130million.

The midfielder star's salary is unlikely to come cheap this summer, and that could cause problems within the current squad due to the calibre of players.

While Enzo Maresca has yet to be publicly announced as Pep Guardiola's successor, it is understood that the former Chelsea boss has already begun planning for the season ahead.

That could include a total squad overhaul this summer. Rodri and Dias could just be the front of a five-man exodus over the coming months, at least Borson predicts.

Enzo Maresca to hit the reset button at Man City

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, in addition to Silva and Stones, Borson has named a total of six players who could be heading for the exit doors to free up wages this summer.

"City's wage bill is starting to get to a level that they're going to have to take some action. Bernardo and Stones were big earners and have gone on free transfers," he said.

"So that makes a difference. Savino, I think, will go to Spurs. That'll make a difference. That's three relatively significant earners that are going to go.

"You've got a whole list of players who are on the fringes, and some of them will have to go; [Jack] Grealish, [Tijjani] Reijnders, Rico Lewis, these sorts of guys.

"Then there's also potential on some of the very big players, the big earners and the big players. That's Ruben Dias, amid interest from Real Madrid, and potentially, Rodri.

"The question is, how easy will it be to sell players in that £30m to £50m range?"

Could Tijjani Reijnders really leave the Etihad already?

Reijnders is certainly an interesting player at the Etihad, one who is likely to split opinion amongst the supporters when it comes to potentially cashing in.

It was hoped that he would fill the shoes of Ilkay Gundogan, but that was already a huge ask, given what the German managed in Man City colours.

Borson has already told Football Insider that he expected the Netherlands international to stay, but that doesn't stop the rumours from flying this summer.

Even the midfielder is likely to admit that his first season in England hasn't quite gone as planned. If he wants a future with the Citizens, that really needs to change next term.
