Savinho to Tottenham 'just a matter of time' as Man City winger in 'advanced' talks

Published on

Savinho's move away from Manchester City could be announced within weeks amid strong interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

That is according to former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider that Tottenham are in "fairly advanced" talks this summer.

The Lilywhites attempted to sign the 22-year-old Brazilian during the summer of 2025, and have now reignited their interest ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

Savinho struggled for minutes during Pep Guardiola's final season as Man City boss, and while the Spaniard has brought an end to his decade-long tenure, the player still appears ready for a new challenge.

Tottenham could sign Savinho for £55million

During previous windows, it was believed that City wanted £70million for Savinho to leave, with Guardiola wanting the player to remain at the Etihad Stadium.

Now speaking exclusively to Football Insider about a potential deal, Borson said: "It'll be £50million, maybe, £55million. I think the deal will happen.

"It looks like it's fairly advanced. I think there's been lots of conversations, so it's just a matter of time, around that sort of level.

"It's one of those where both parties will be happy," and Borson is clearly suggesting that a deal is likely to be announced sooner rather than later.

How is Roberto De Zerbi influencing the deal?

The player likely sees the move as an opportunity for more minutes, but that doesn't appear to be the only thing drawing him to North London.

Football Insider understands that the opportunity to work under De Zerbi is a huge factor for the player, who is pushing to leave the Citizens.

Savinho has been linked with the Lilywhites during his time at the Etihad, and it would appear that he's ready to force a deal to go through.

Given that the Man City squad is set for an overhaul, it wouldn't be a surprise if Maresca were to green light the move, with several other targets for the former Chelsea boss.

Xavi Simons appeared to soft-launch the transfer when sharing an image of the pair together on social media, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
