Sources: Man United employees plan legal action against Man City in extraordinary twist
Manchester United staff members are considering taking legal action against Manchester City in an extraordinary twist, sources have told Football Insider.
After Premier League clubs were informed that Man City will be found guilty of 114 of their 115 financial charges, multiple avenues could be set to be explored.
Reports elsewhere have suggested rival clubs could take legal action, but there are staff members at a number of top clubs who believe they would have a case against Man City.
This comes as a result of loss of earnings, having missed out on wins bounses and other insentives which one individual told Football Insider could total as much as £20,000.
During the period between 2009 and 2018 for which Man City have been charged, the Cityzens won the title three times; twice ahead of Man United and once Liverpool.
Should the Premier League's official announcement, which is expcted in due course, reveal that Man City are guilty, then those effected are prepared to consider their options.
Are Man City set to face growing legal issues?
Former Everton CEO Keith Wyness told Football Insider on 25 September that Man City are unlikely to win any appeal against the decision, with further issues to follow.
While the Premier League have yet to announce the verdict, and any such announcement will be met with an appeal, City are still likely to be hit with a severe punishment.
Alongside those punishments, however, they are set to open a can of worms with legal charges from a number of clubs in the Premier League and elsewhere.
A number of former managers and coaches have already spoken out, while clubs are believed to be seeking legal counsel, as they prepare to claim for damages and loss of earnings.
With multiple individuals from across a number of clubs also likely to seek payments, Man City's legal team will have plenty of work to do into the coming months and beyond.
What punishments could Man City now face?
Alongside the growing prospect of legal challenges, Man City are also preparing to face a severe punishment after being found guilty of 114 financial rule breaches.
The governing body are now determined to "throw the book" at them, in an attempt to make an example and placate the demands of other clubs who have been left raging.
Brown told Football Insider on 28 September that the Premier Leaue are "ready" to issue a punishment which could see Man City relegated, handed a points decuction and given a massive fine.
Previous high-profile issues across British football have seen the likes of Everton, Nottingham Forest and Rangers severely punished, and Man City should now be next.
While Man City maintain that the ruling is not yet final, and are likely to file an appeal, a decision about their punishment is being made behind the scenes.
