Stefan Borson furious as Man City's 115 charges to 'go on for years and years'
Manchester City will be facing scrutiny for "years and years" as the Premier League's 115 charges against them hang over the Etihad.
That is according to former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider that the ongoing case has no end in sight.
The Permier League opened an investigation into the Citizens' finances all the way back in 2019, with the charges being announced in 2023.
Over three years later and supporters all across the division are waiting on a verdict, even with the 2026-27 campaign now kicking off in England.
Ahead of the new season starting, Premier League CEO Richard Masters was quizzed about the situation, and admitted that the process has "taken longer than expected".
Supporters have certainly read into Masters' quotes, with new frustrations bubbling to the surface this summer over Man City's 115 charges.
Man City's 115 charges case is 'a shambles'
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson voiced his frustrations, and suggested that all interested parties will have to wait "years" for an outcome.
"Overall, it's a shambles. There had to have been a timetable at the start. They should have made provision that the panel were going to deliver their decision by a certain date," he said.
"And they decided not to do it. The panel have to finish it. That, in itself, is just unacceptable. And then we go on, because this, amazingly, this is only the first bit.
"As we understand it, this is only the bit that says whether City did it or not. There's a whole other bit that where if they have done something wrong, there's a sanction part.
"What's the penalty? Well, that's not going to be a quick process. And then there's the appeal. It's going to go on for years and years."
Does anyone know the outcome yet?
Understandably, clubs all across the Premier League, including Man City, are frustrated by the long wait, but that is only set to continue.
There are rumours that the Citizens and the Premier League are already aware of the outcome, but that simply can't be proven one way or the other.
"Their decision might be out, right? The club and the Premier League might have the decision and might be working through some of the administrative stuff in terms of typos and redactions," Borson said.
Of course, everyone at the Etihad would love to put the entire situation behind them. Sadly, it doesn't look like that will be happening anytime soon.
