Stefan Borson is absolutely adamant over Man City's chances of winning appeal

Manchester City's owners believe they've "done nothing wrong," but it is difficult to see the 10-time Premier League winners escaping.

That is according to former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider that the Citizens may be able to "pick away" at the Premier League's 114 charges.

Despite an independent board finding them guilty, the owners have said they have "irrefutable evidence" against the charges.

Supporters up and down the Premier League are yet to see what this evidence is, with many wanting the Citizens booted out of division due to their rule-breaking.

It is impossible to predict the final outcome of the current process, but avoiding a punishment altogether is extremely unlikely at this stage.

Man City's owners continue to battle against the charges, claiming innocence, but Borson simply can't see how this is possible.

Man City owners 'believe they've done nothing wrong'

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson has explained how Man City's owners could "pick away at the edges of the decision".

"I think they're ultimately confident because they, and I do think this is the case, believe they've done nothing wrong," he said.

"Now, that does not match at all with the finding of the independent commission. And ultimately that's all that matters right now.

"Clearly, if the appeal board can see something very, clear about a misapplication of law or a misunderstanding of a statement or a fact that's been made or a sort of faulty recollection of some of the evidence...

"These are all very, very unlikely, by the way, but then maybe City can find things to pick away at the edges of this decision."

Man City have hired the very best to avoid punishment

It is an awful time to be a Man City supporter, being left totally in the dark as breaking news continues to emerge every day.

Bryan King, speaking to Football Insider, believes that City have one of the best barristers in the country in Lord David Pannick KC.

He played a key role in fighting the club avoid a two-year ban from European competition in 2020, with the Court of Arbitration for Sports eventually overturning it on appeal.

Many fans are choosing to follow the owners, despite the current situation, while others are turning away and wanting a change of leadership instead.

It's safe to say that Man City have gotten themselves into a very messy situation.
