'That has to be AI' - Man City fans blown away by 'mental' Elliot Anderson footage

Elliot Anderson continues to amaze supporters after signing for Manchester City in a £116million deal this summer.

The 23-year-old was key during the Manchester derby at the weekend, as Enzo Maresca's side were forced to play 70 minutes with 10 men.

He covered the most distance of anyone on the pitch, as well as having the most defensive contributions, in a very tight 1-0 win at Old Trafford.

Anderson has already become undroppable at the Etihad Stadium, though that was always to be expected after Man City paid an eye-watering fee for his services.

Supporters can't quite grasp how he manages to pull off what he does on the pitch, and that is clearly no different in training either.

Preparations have been well underway ahead of City's clash with Norwich City in the Carabao Cup on 17 September, with Anderson at the centre of that.

The club's official account have released footage from Man City's training sessions, with many more now understanding his nickname - Geordie Maradona.

Anderson appeared to be "suspended" in the air when touching down the ball in training, and fans were gobsmacked, despite him losing possession.

One supporter even suggested that the video looked AI-generated, being unable to understand the player's delicate touch of the ball in training.

It should really be no surprise, given what he's done on the pitch so far. But Anderson is likely to wow supporters further over the next few years.

Maresca's team will have every confidence in beating the Canaries at the Etihad Stadium, hopeful of reaching the Carabao Cup fourth round.

And history is certainly on the Citizens' side, losing just once to the current Championship side since 2011 - a 3-2 defeat at Carrow Road in 2019.

In the last five meetings between the two clubs, Man City are leading 16-3 on aggregate, with all games coming in the Premier League since 2016.

Norwich certainly have some dangerous players, such as Mohamed Toure, but it will take a lot for Philippe Clement's side to claim victory.
