The first five Man City players likely to go if they are expelled from Premier League

Manchester City are facing the very real prospect of being banished from the Premier League after being found guilty on 114 counts.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Premier League board member Keith Wyness believes a 50-point deduction is certain for breaking financial rules over nearly a decade.

That would almost definitely plunge Enzo Maresca's side into the dark unknown of relegation in 2026-27, throwing the Citizens into absolute chaos.

Not only would City's finances be a major talking point in the Championship, but several players would be looking elsewhere next summer.

Of course, staying in the Premier League with a 50-point deduction is not mathematically impossible, but players will already be talking to their agents about a potential move away.

With that in mind, Football Insider has predicted the first five players to seek an exit should the worst-case scenario come to fruition this season.

Gianluigi Donnarumma

Italy's first-choice shot-stopper, Gianluigi Donnarumma. The 27-year-old is regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in world football, so securing a move would be no issue.

He cost the club just £26million in the summer of 2025, so it would not be long before rivals came knocking with some ridiculously low offers.

Josko Gvardiol

Although Josko Gvardiol has only recently signed a new deal until 2031, the defender was seriously considering a move during the summer.

Ultimately, Man City convinced the 24-year-old to stay, but he will undoubtedly be regretting his choices, when Bayern Munich and Real Madrid were sniffing around for his signature.

Enzo Fernandez

Enzo Fernandez has only just joined the Citizens on a £125m deal from Chelsea, but that just showed how easily he can burn his bridges.

With Javier Pastore as his agent, there is no doubt that the talented Argentine would instantly be offered to other clubs, favouring an early exit over playing Championship football.

Rayan Cherki

One of the more painful departures would be Rayan Cherki, who has been the most creative player for the Citizens since Kevin De Bruyne's emotional exit.

Giants across Europe were gutted when losing out on his signature two summers ago, and Man City's expected relegation would allow them to secure him on a bargain deal in just a few months.

Erling Haaland

The sad reality is that, even if Erling Haaland had ambitions of firing Man City back to the Premier League, a transfer might be just too good to turn down.

Real Madrid and Barcelona are huge admirers of the record-breaking striker. Both La Liga giants would, undoubtedly, try their luck.

Some fans even believe that Haaland could seal his exit during the upcoming winter transfer window, and that really would be a gut-wrenching blow.
