Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on a deal for Manchester City winger Savinho, sources have told Football Insider.

The 22-year-old is expected to cost in the region of £60million and is keen on the move, but City must find a replacement first.

The Lilywhites' interest in the Brazil international dates back to last summer, when they were keen to sign him but ultimately failed to get the move done.

Savinho joined Man City from fellow City Football Group (CFG) club Troyes in 2024, and made just seven Premier League starts this season amid injury trouble.

The winger could well be Tottenham's seventh permanent signing of the summer, in what is turning out to be a sensational window.

Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes have been the standout new arrivals at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with £237m spent so far.

Everything Pep Guardiola said about 'incredible' Savinho

It was Savinho's singular season in La Liga that ultimately convinced Man City to take him away from Troyes.

In a bizarre and uncomfortable consequence of the multi-club system, the winger had signed for Troyes in 2022 for a club-record fee, but never actually made an appearance for them.

Instead, he first went on loan to PSV before joining another CFG club, Girona, on loan in 2023.

There, Savinho would establish himself among the most exciting talents in Europe, scoring nine goals and providing 10 assists in a superb La Liga season.

Man City signed the winger for £30m in 2024 and he initially seemed to struggle in the Premier League, but ultimately provided eight assists in his debut campaign.

After he had scored his first league goal, against Leicester City in December 2024, Pep Guardiola said: "We’re a way from what we have to be as a team, but Savinho made an incredible performance again like he did against Everton.

"He’s a guy who can play on both sides, today he finally scored a goal. He has an incredible ability and quality he’s proven in that period.

"He arrived in the six months when the team isn’t in the best moment than maybe he expected, compared with the past.

"He makes one action fine, second fine, third miss it, four mistake, five mistake, the sixth try again and try again and try again. And until the end he tries. Defensively he’s not incredible in the one v one, but his work rate is impressive and he’s so aggressive on both sides."

Savinho was compared to Vinicius Junior

Savinho is rapid with the ball at his feet, and will provide Tottenham with huge threat out wide.

The winger can be found wanting in front of goal, but he will undoubtedly create chance after chance.

Such was his breakout in La Liga impressive, Savinho even drew comparisons to Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Junior.

Michel, who left Girona for Ajax earlier this month, was left astounded by the 22-year-old's first training session.

"I know this is a big statement, but I hadn't seen anyone so effective in one-on-one situations since Vinicius Jr emerged," he said.

"He was perhaps the most surprising talent in La Liga if you consider that [Jude] Bellingham was already known by everybody."

Savinho now may be set to take those talents to North London, as Tottenham look to continue their rebuild.
