Man City's response to Tottenham move for Omar Marmoush revealed
Manchester City have no intention of selling striker Omar Marmoush this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
The Egyptian is a long-term target for Tottenham Hotspur, who have been heavily linked with him again of late, but it is understood that it would be a "difficult" deal for them to strike.
City boss Enzo Maresca currently feels that his squad are short in several areas, and he has little interest in losing a quality backup like Marmoush as a result.
Sources have indicated that it would take a "huge fee" to prise the 27-year-old away from the Etihad Stadium, and he is also on a very "lucrative deal" in Manchester.
Marmoush has found himself below Erling Haaland in the attacking pecking order and is keen to ensure that he is playing regular football.
However, any desire for a move away is likely to be blocked by City, who are not keen to show him the door under any circumstances.
Omar Marmoush stuck in difficult situation
Marmoush has fallen into a challenging situation at City, as he is competing for a place in the XI with one of the world's leading strikers.
The former Eintracht Frankfurt man was limited to just eight Premier League starts last season, but City remain in desperate need of his quality.
They need to have quality cover for Haaland in case of an injury, so undoubtedly cannot sell Marmoush without a top-level replacement lined up.
The player has a desire to play more football, but is yet to truly decide that he wants to try and push for a move away.
The finances involved in any potential deal would also be difficult for rival clubs to meet, such are City's likely demands.
Marmoush has been continually linked with a move away throughout the last 12 months, but it is increasingly likely that he will have to stay put again.
Man City accelerate move for Rodri replacement
Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider earlier this week that City are ready to step up their interest in Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton.
The ex-recruitment man revealed that the Citizens have had scouts tracking the Englishman continually, and view him as one of their top targets to replace Rodri.
However, Brown believes that Palace may attempt to price City out of a move, having already lost several of their key players in recent seasons.
Wharton is a player with an ever-growing reputation in the Premier League, and City are the latest club to set their sights on him.
