Manchester City are likely to be followed around by their "outstanding charges" as the summer transfer window approaches.

Stefan Borson told Football Insider that Man City are likely to learn their fate soon after the end of the season, with Pep Guardiola's side dealt the original charges back in February 2023.

Supporters are waiting patiently for an outcome, mainly so that everything can be put behind the Citizens, especially as the manager once again prepares to dive into the transfer market this summer.

Man City's transfer plans are clearly not suffering, despite the ongoing drama around their finances, with new reports from The Mirror suggesting that the race has been won for Elliot Anderson's signature.

Manchester City reportedly win the race for Elliot Anderson

The Citizens have long been linked with a move for Nottingham Forest's rising star, but it is believed that a deal is all but confirmed ahead of the transfer window opening this summer.

However, with City's finances still very much a major talking point, rival supporters cannot help but mention the ongoing charges while new updates are shared about the Anderson deal.

Taking to X (8 April), Richard Keys questioned the transfer news, saying: "How can they keep spending money when there is still no word on 135 outstanding charges relating to mis-spending of money?"

It is believed that Man City have beaten Man United in the race for the 23-year-old's signature, joining the likes of Rodri and Nico Gonzalez at the base of the midfield ahead of next season.

Nottingham Forest star could be a direct replacement for Rodri

A lot has been made about Rodri's future this season, with the Spaniard taking a rather long time to return to his usual self after recovering from a long-term injury.

Keith Wyness told Football Insider that Man City have held "serious talks" over Rodri's exit, with a decision likely already made, and a deal for Anderson could all but confirm that.

Gonzalez has the ability to grow into a bigger role at the Etihad, but the Forest star is already proven in the Premier League, earning a starting spot in Thomas Tuchel's England team as well.

Man City's charges will be hanging over the club until a final decision is reached, but that should not have any impact on Guardiola's transfer plans ahead of the summer.
