Manchester United fans reacted with excitement on Twitter to Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s display during the 1-0 victory against Tottenham on Sunday afternoon, and are hoping his injury isn’t serious.
The 27-year-old broke the deadlock after 29 minutes in the first half to give his side the lead during the crucial fixture at Old Trafford.
It was Mkhitaryan’s second goal in four days following his strike in the 2-0 victory against Zorya in the Europa League on Thursday evening, but he went off in the 85th minute on a stretcher.
Mkhitaryan was overlooked by Jose Mourinho in the opening months of the 2016-17 Premier League season despite joining in the summer for £26 million.
He made just four league appearances between August and October but has now started the last three games and has been impressive in each of them.
The attacking midfielder was one of the best players in Europe last season during his time with Borussia Dortmund and he has been tipped to become a huge success at United.
It has taken him some time to settle into the first team but recent displays have been very impressive and it’s unlikely Mourinho will keep him out of the side.
Fans were delighted to see him score again and he is quickly becoming a favourite among United supporters so they will be anxious to hear the extent of his injury.
