Manchester United are in talks to sign Dutch wonderkid Tahith Chong, Football Insider sources understand.

The Premier League giants have made a raid for the 16-year-old winger after assessing him in frequent scouting trips in the last 18 months.

A United source has told

Football Insider

that negotiations have opened with Feyenoord over a deal that would take Chong to Old Trafford in the summer.

He initially impressed United talent-spotters while playing for Feyenoord at the Premier Cup tournament which was held at United’s Carrington training complex last August.

Chelsea are also interested in the teenager but United are confident they are in pole position to recruit him to their academy set-up.

Chong can play on either flank but is predominantly used by the highly-rated Feyenoord youth team on the left wing.

United are also taking a closer look at Lech Poznan’s 15-year-old goalkeeper Bartosz Mrozek, who has been given permission by his club to travel to spend a few days training at Carrington.

Mrozek has been monitored by United for over a year and will return to Poland on Sunday.
