Manchester United warm up on Monday for Liverpool clash in unexpected way

By Amir Mir

Manchester United players have been pictured warming up in a car park as they prepare to take on their old rivals Liverpool at Anfield on Monday night.

Pictures in the Daily Mail show the Manchester squad, including players such as, Zlatan Ibrahimović, Wayne Rooney and Paul Pogba, preparing for the Anfield clash at the unlikely venue.

They were watched by their manager Jose Mourinho as squad members took part in a stretching session, near the Titanic hotel in Liverpool.

The Mail also report that this is not the first time Mourinho’s men have trained in a car park. They did so prior to their EFL Cup clash against Northampton Town in September.

Nonetheless, Mourinho will be hoping to continue United’s winning run of form against their north-west rivals on Monday night.

The Old Trafford club have won the last four league meetings between the two sides, but that was under the stewardship of previous manager Louis Van Gaal.

United last tasted victory at Anfield in January, when captain Rooney struck late into the second-half to give his side a much deserved victory.

But this season Liverpool have started the season in strong fashion, with the Reds fourth in the table with 16 points, while United are sixth with 13 points.

The Merseyside club could go level on points with Manchester City and Arsenal who occupy first and second spot, if they beat United in what will be a closely fought contest.

In other Liverpool team news, the club’s fan favourite is expected to be in attendance when Manchester United travel to Anfield on Monday night.
