Manchester United player ratings v Liverpool: Senior player 2/10
By Amir Mir
Football Insider rates the Manchester United players out of ten following their 1-1 draw against Liverpool at Old Trafford.
David de Gea 7 – Couldn’t do much about the penalty but remained composed throughout the game and did his job.
Antonio Valencia 6 – The right-back was much better in the second period and did very well to produce the cross which led to United’s equaliser.
Phil Jones 7 – After putting his injury nightmare behind him, Jones is beginning to show his true class. He kept the away team at bay in what was a feisty encounter.
Marcus Rojo 7 – He is beginning to build a solid partnership with Jones at the heart of the club’s defence. Didn’t look out of place against Klopp’s side and did his job reasonably well.

Matteo Darmian 4 – Unable to get into the game and quite clearly is not suited to the left-back position. Anthony Martial did not help him out on the left-hand side but the Italian failed to provide any attacking threat for his team.
Ander Herrera 8 – Arguably United’s best player on the pitch. The Spaniard was making things happen throughout the game and is one of the club’s most consistent players.
Michael Carrick 4 – The midfielder was not himself during the game, he was out-of-sorts in the first-half and as a result substituted at the break.
Paul Pogba 2 – Poor performance and a daft mistake to handle the ball inside his own penalty area. His head dropped after that as the Frenchman failed to impact the game. He is a senior player in this side and must do better.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan 7 – He played in various positions during the game and was a positive influence on the team. The winger delivered balls into the box and kept the ball ticking throughout the game.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic 6 – The Sweden international was very quiet for the majority of the game but when it mattered he delivered with a well-guided header.
Anthony Martial 4 – The wide man couldn’t produce the display that was expected of him. The away team must be credited for constantly surrounding the Frenchman when on the ball. Additionally, he should have helped Darmian defensively.
Wayne Rooney 6 – (for Carrick, 45 mins)
Juan Mata 5 – (for Martial, 65 mins)
Marouane Fellaini 7 – (for Darmian, 76 mins)
