Man United set for £10m boost as big-money sponsorship clause detailed
Manchester United are set to receive a £10million boost from Adidas if they qualify for the Champions League this season.
Michael Carrick’s side currently sit third in the Premier League table, eight points above sixth-place Brighton with a game in hand.
There are five Champions League spots on offer to top-flight clubs this season, meaning Man United just need to pick up a handful of points from their final five matches to secure their place.
As part of the Manchester giants’ kit manufacturer deal with Adidas, a clause in the agreement sees the club paid £10m less if they fail to qualify for the elite European club competition.
However, Man United’s anticipated qualification will ensure they receive the full payment from the German manufacturer this time around.

Man United agreed a new 10-year sponsorship deal with Adidas in the summer of 2023, with the partnership worth £900m over the lifetime of the contract.
However, failing to qualify for the Champions League under Ruben Amorim last season led to the club’s annual fee falling from £90m to £80m.

The 20-time English champions have now gone two seasons without qualifying for the Champions League, having featured in the Europa League in 2024-25, where they lost to Tottenham in the final.
Carrick has turned Man United’s fortunes around since being appointed as manager until the end of the season following Amorim’s departure in January.
The Old Trafford favourite has won eight of his 12 games in charge, while suffering defeat in just two of those fixtures.
Carrick is the leading candidate to be appointed as the next permanent Man United manager if they qualify for the Champions League this season.
How Champions League qualification would impact Man United
If Man United can secure a return to the Champions League, it would drastically improve their financial situation.
The Red Devils would earn a substantial amount from the competition due to the prize money on offer.

Despite their performances on the pitch in recent campaigns, Man United continue to generate a significant amount of revenue after their turnover increased from £661.8m in 2023-24 to £666.5m last season.
That figure was boosted by an uplift in commercial revenue at Old Trafford, which improved from £302.9m to £333.3m in 2024-25.
Meanwhile, broadcast revenue fell from £221.8m to £172.9m due to their lack of Champions League football, with matchday income increasing from £137.1m to £160.3m.
Man United are hoping to boost their Champions League qualification hopes when they take on Brentford at Old Trafford on Monday (27 April).
