Red zone: A number of Manchester United players are at risk of injury

By Will Butcher

Football Insider rates the Manchester United players in their 1-1 draw against bitter rivals Arsenal in Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off at Old Trafford:

David de Gea 6 – Had little to do but was calm and assured when called in to action. Could do nothing about Arsenal’s late equaliser.

Antonio Valencia 7 – Looked lively on the right flank of United’s attack, was hardly troubled by Arsenal’s left-sided attack.

Phil Jones 6 – Continued his recovery from injury in fine form with a number of important interceptions and tackles, but was pushed aside as Oliver Giroud leapt to score.

Marcos Rojo 5 – The emergency centre-back looked shaky away from his favoured left-back slot, with a number of misplaced passes and kept getting drawn from the defensive line alongside Jones. Nowhere to be seen for the goal.

Matteo Darmian 6 – Out of position at left-back, and was rash in a number of tackles that saw him receive his last warning on the half-hour mark. Substituted in the 64th minute.

Michael Carrick 7 – Consistent as ever from the holding midfielder, dictated the tempo of the game without doing anything sensational.

Paul Pogba 6 – Showed an array of nice touches in midfield and looked good going forward for United, but was unable to show any kind of form that warrants a £90million price tag.

Ander Herrera 7 – Well marshalled by Arsenal’s Francis Coquelin and Mohamed Elneny but provided inch-perfect assist for Mata’s goal.

Juan Mata 8 – Failed to have an impact from his unfavoured wide role in the first half, but began to get involved in the second half by coming inside and his late run secured United’s goal.

Anthony Martial 6 – Tested Petr Cech more than any other of the United players, but failed to produce his brilliant best of last season up against stand-in right-back Carl Jenkinson. Substituted in the 63rd minute.

Marcus Rashford 7 – Looked lively and used his pace to good effect when given service, but could not find the final product. Was lazy in looking to stop Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as he supplied the cross for Olivier Giroud to score.

Wayne Rooney (for Martial 63 mins) – 7

Daley Blind (for Darmian 64 mins) – 5

Morgan Schneiderlin (for Mata 85 mins) – 6
