Jadon Sancho's 'most likely destination' revealed after Man United exit

Jadon Sancho is likely to complete a move to the Middle East in search of a "huge" contract after leaving Manchester United last month.

The 26-year-old is available as a free agent after running down his contract at Old Trafford, but his wage demands have priced him out of most European clubs' budgets.

He has received an offer from Qatari outfit Al Rayyan and is continuing to weigh up his options, with his agent believed to have been in contact with Saudi Arabian clubs as well.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Sancho is chasing another big contract, with clubs in the Middle East the only ones able to afford his demands.

This comes over a year after the winger's demands ruled out a permanent move to Chelsea following his loan spell at Stamford Bridge despite a fee being agreed.

He then enjoyed another loan spell at Aston Villa, where he impressed as they won the Europa League, but despite his availability as a free agent, offers have not been forthcoming.

Brown told Football Insider last year that Sancho must lower his wage demands if he stays in Europe, with a move to Saudi Arabia his most likely destination.

Despite having spent a year on loan at Aston Villa since then, a move to the Middle East is still being backed, as they are the only clubs willing to meet his lofty wages.

While it now seems his move to Al Rayyan is off after their initial propsal, Sancho's options have become limited, and he is still expected to move to that area of the world.

"Sancho is a classic case of a player who was given far too big of a contract far too early," Brown told Football Insider.

"As a young player, he was immediately given that huge contract by Man United, where he was getting paid £250,000 per week and then they couldn't get him off the wage bill.

"Since then, he's been chasing a big payday, that's why he didn't complete the permanent move to Chelsea, because they weren't willing to match his wage demands.

"So based on that, the only place where teams are realistically going to be willing to pay what he's asking for is in the Middle East.

"Whether it's a team in Qatar or in Saudi Arabia, that's where the money is, and so at the moment that is going to be the most likely destination for Jadon Sancho."

Which other clubs are interested in signing Sancho?

Sancho's wage demands have widely priced him out of a move to any European clubs, but that has not deterred interest from clubs hoping he will accept a pay cut.

Despite eventually leaving Aston Villa after his loan spell, the winger turned in a number of impressive performances, proving he can still perform at the top level.

Brown told Football Insider in February that Sancho would be open to a return to the Bundesliga, where Borussia Dortmund are keen on a reunion.

The former England international has enjoyed two successful spells with the German giants, and is believed to be open to a return as a free agent.

Sancho would need to take a dramatic pay cut to push the deal through, leading to uncertainty, but should he hope to stay in Europe then Dortmund are the outstanding candidates.
