Man United accelerate left-back signing plan after Lewis Hall latest
Man United are prioritising a move for a new left-back as they look set to miss out on top target Lewis Hall, sources have told Football Insider.
The Red Devils have tracked Hall for over 12 months amid his standout form in Newcastle's backline.
Newcastle consider him untouchable in the market right now after letting several key players leave the club this summer.
United are moving on from watching Hall as they accelerate their plan to sign a new left-back to compete with Luke Shaw.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, the position is a top priority for Michael Carrick, with another new midfielder all but confirmed as they close in on Carlos Baleba.
Patrick Dorgu has rotated with long-serving star Shaw in the past, but is now seen as a winger in Carrick's system after some strong attacking showings last season.
Man United ramping up left-back plans as Lewis Hall dream fades
Sources have exclusively revealed to Football Insider that Club Brugge left-back Joaquin Seys is on United's radar as it stands.
Hall was their top target, but Newcastle are standing firm against letting him leave and will demand over £60million to part ways.
United are likely to explore a cheaper option in the last 10 days of the window, with RB Leipzig's David Raum linked to Old Trafford.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "A left back is an area of the team that United are looking to strengthen. They’ve obviously been frustrated in their pursuit of Lewis Hall, so they've been looking at other players as well. They want cover and competition for Luke Shaw."
Myles Lewis-Skelly 'tensions' could benefit Man United
Lewis-Skelly is another reported Red Devils target who could fit Carrick's ideal profile for a left-back addition.
The Arsenal youngster is a midfielder by trade but can play on the left of a back four, and has been heavily linked away from the Emirates after struggling for regular minutes last season.
While Mikel Arteta wants to keep him, sources have told Football Insider that Lewis-Skelly's agent is causing tension behind the scenes by offering him to other clubs.
United may be able to capitalise and push for a move, but nothing is advanced as yet.
