Man United could accept 'huge' offer in 'surprise' exit twist

Manchester United could be prepared to accept permanent offers for Leny Yoro in 2027 amid doubts about his role at the club.

The 20-year-old is very highly regarded at Old Trafford, but has started just three games so far this season and is finding game time at centre-back hard to come by under Michael Carrick.

That lack of playing time has led to concerns about the defender's long-term development, as there is a belief his situation is unlikely to change in the near future.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that the club could opt to cash in on Yoro for a "huge" fee if they believe he cannot play a role under Carrick.

That comes amid interest from top European clubs including Paris Saint-Germain, who could be willing to part with significant funds to lure the youngster away from Old Trafford.

While Man United are believed to be reluctant to lose Yoro, discussions have taken place surrounding his long-term future, with some suggestions they could let him move on.

Could Man United let Leny Yoro move on?

Brown told Football Insider on 6 October that Man United could allow Yoro to leave the club on loan in January if his playing time doesn’t change amid interest from top clubs.

Despite having returned to the starting XI at right-back during the 1-1 draw against Tottenham, concerns have lingered about his place in the squad and his minutes on the pitch.

As a result, the club are considering letting him leave on loan in January, and could even look to cash in permanently for the right price as they continue to assess his displays.

"Leny Yoro is a very good player, and he’s very highly regarded at Manchester United," Brown told Football Insider.

"The problem is, there isn’t really a place for him in the side at the moment unless he’s going to fill in at right-back, but that’s not his favourite position so I’m not sure it’ll be a long-term thing.

"They need him to improve, but the only way you can develop that is by playing every week, experiencing these situations and adapting, but that isn't happening at the moment.

"So there’s been talk he could leave on loan in January, and I have no doubts there will be a number of clubs interested in taking him if that is the case.

"The other way would be just to sell him. If they don’t think he’s going to be part of their starting XI on a regular basis, and somebody comes in with a huge offer, then they could let him go.

"When we’re talking about clubs like Paris Saint-Germain, it’s not like money is going to be an issue, so United can demand what they want, really.

"I think that’s unlikely, it’s not something they’re planning to do and I would be surprised if it happened, but I do think every player has a price regardless of who they are.

"There are high hopes for his development, but he’s not going to develop if he’s not playing often, so maybe they could let him go for a big fee rather than allowing him to stagnate."

What does Michael Carrick have planned for his defence?

Speculation surrounding Yoro's future at Old Trafford comes as Man United are putting long-term plans in place to overhaul their back line following the turn of the year.

While January deals are unlikely to be pursued as a matter of urgency, the club are aiming to sign a new left-back, centre-back and right-back ahead of next summer’s window.

Football Insider revealed on 4 October that Carrick is planning to make major changes to his defensive options, with major additions already being eyed behind the scenes.

The addition of a new left-back has been high on the wish list at Old Trafford for a while now, while there is also a belief they may be in need of new centre-backs as well.

That could see Yoro pushed further down the pecking order, or forced to fill in at right-back as he was against Spurs, and has raised further doubts about his long-term future.
