Man United regularly 'scouting' Adrien Truffert after transformation
Manchester United have considered making a move to sign Adrien Truffert from Bournemouth after a scouting mission.
The 24-year-old has emerged on the radar at Man United thanks to his impressive performances in the Premier League since joining Bournemouth last summer.
Michael Carrick's side have been tracking a number of left-backs as they aim to bolster the position in 2027, while the France international also has other suitors.
However, former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Truffer is down the list of targets at Old Trafford despite scouts keeping tabs on his performances.
The left-back has impressed once again for Bournemouth this season, having started all four Premier League games so far, and will play a key role in their Europa League ambitions.
Man United, though, are currently looking elsewhere in their pursuit of a new left-back and feel that Truffert is not the right player for Carrick's system.
Could Man United make a move to sign Adrien Truffert?
Football Insider reported back in April that Truffert could be the ideal left-back signing for Man United after making a name for himself in his debut Premier League season.
The left-back has seen his stock rise steadily since he joined Bournemouth from French side Rennes in a deal worth just £14.3million last summer.
However, at the price it would take to prise him away from the Cherries next summer, Man United are unlikely to make a move and are instead eyeing other targets.
"Truffert is a name I have heard mentioned on a couple of occasions," Brown told Football Insider.
"I remember watching him when he was playing in France, and he was a solid enough left-back, a decent player, but not somebody who really wowed me at the time.
"I must admit, since his move to Bournemouth he has really come on and proved he can compete at the top level, but I'm still not sure he's a Man United player.
"Is he a significant improvement on Luke Shaw or somebody who could come in and take his place? Again, I'm not convinced, and I don't believe Man United are either.
"There are a lot of options on their radar, and scouts have been tracking them including Truffert, but I expect they will look elsewhere for now."
Which other left-backs are Man United eyeing?
Truffert is far from the only left-back who has been on Man United's radar in recent times, with Carrick having identified the position as a priority ahead of 2027.
During the summer, the club failed in moves to sign the likes of Lewis Hall, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Ian Maatsen, and have now been forced to consider long-term targets.
Brown told Football Insider on 16 September that Man United have been keeping a close eye on Crystal Palace star Tyrick Mitchell in case he becomes available.
The 27-year-old's contract at Selhurst Park is set to expire next summer, and his potential availability on a free transfer has placed a number of top clubs on high alert.
Crystal Palace remain hopeful that Mitchell will put pen to paper on a contract extension as they aim to deter his suitors, but the level of interest in him could cause delays.
