Man United source: Marcus Rashford transfer update

Marcus Rashford's future is not set to be decided until late in the window as Man United weigh up whether or not to keep him for the coming season, sources have told Football Insider.

Rashford had seemed likely to secure a permanent move to Barcelona after an impressive loan spell at the club last season.

The Catalan giants decided against triggering his £25.6million option-to-buy clause, though, and also did not look to pursue a permanent deal for a lower fee.

His future now remains unclear into the final few weeks of the summer window, as he prepares to return to the United fold for pre-season training.

Michael Carrick is yet to decide if he wants him to stay, and as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Rashford is not attracting widespread attention from top clubs across Europe.

He has only been closely linked with a move to Super Lig club Fenerbahce in recent weeks, but is not keen on a move to Turkey right now.

Rashford's reported £325,000-a-week wages are a stumbling block for most clubs who could be interested in signing him this summer.

His next move is not set to be finalised until late on in the window, with an Old Trafford stay still potentially on the cards.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "There haven't been many other top European clubs linked with the England international, so it remains to be seen what happens with him. His future is very much up in the air.

"Man United would be open to offers for him, but again they don't want to sell him on the cheap either, so it's one of those where we're just going to have to wait and see if he will be reintegrated into Michael Carrick's plans, because he could still do a job for United as he proved at Barcelona and for England at the World Cup."

What are the latest odds on Rashford's next club?

Sources have revealed to Football Insider that Rashford stands a chance of reintegration at United because of his relationship with Carrick, as they featured together in his early years as a first-team player.

The 28-year-old is as short as 4/11 to stay at Old Trafford beyond the summer, while Fenerbahce have been installed as the 3/1 favourites to land him before the end of the window.

Tottenham come in at 4/1 odds with certain bookmakers, while Chelsea and Aston Villa are priced at 5/1 respectively.
