Man United told to sign unknown Norway sensation by scout who discovered Erling Halaand
Isaiah Skovsgaard could be the next big thing to come out of Norway and should be on Manchester United's radar.
That is according to former Aston Villa, Everton and Tottenham scout and legendary Norwegian football expert, Bryan King, speaking exclusively to Football Insider.
The 15-year-old, who does not turn 16 until January, registered an assist on his senior Eliteserien debut for KFUM Oslo last week.
Skovsgaard plays on the wing and has thrived at the youth level, too, but is now expected to gain significant attention after bursting onto the scene in Norway's top flight.
Premier League clubs are in the market of scooping up every young talent they can, but any move for the 15-year-old will have to be a pre-agreement that sees him loaned back until he is 18.
Man United have looked into the Scandinavian market before, and could be expected to return to it for Skovsgaard should he continue to develop.
'I've already heard that PSV and Feyenoord are looking at him'
Skovsgaard has been with KFUM Oslo since February, when he joined from Valerenga.
The youngster is reportedly eligible of representing both Norway and the United States on the international level, although it is unclear whether he has chosen one at youth level.
His first senior goal contribution coming almost six months before his 16th birthday will have to captured attention both at international and club level, however.
Erling Haaland's did not come until he was just a few months away from his 17th birthday. King was the scout who recommended the now Manchester City striker to Everton when he was first breaking through at Bryne, and his sights are now set on Skovsgaard.
"I watched that young kid here. He's only 15. There's obviously going to be English scouts looking at him, along with the Dutch and the French and the Belgian. That's for sure," he told Football Insider.
"I've already heard that PSV and Feyenoord are looking at him already. So that means, you know, United have always had a pretty good connection with Scandinavia. And if they've got any sense, they'd certainly be following him now, that's for sure.
"I mean, he's 15. He isn't 16 until next January. He's an interesting player. I don't think anybody's heard of him in England, have they? He's worth a mention before he does start getting mentioned.
"If he's got any sense, he won't go to Chelsea. Fulham, maybe. Fulham have been following Norwegian football quite closely. They've got [Sander] Berge there. They've got [Oscar] Bobb. You know, that could be a half-decent little club for him, Fulham.
"If you remember back, you remember John Arne Riise. I mean, when he came from Italy, Fulham was his club. And then the next thing, he's at Liverpool."
Isaiah Skovsgaard likely to follow Erling Haaland's pathway
The Premier League may not be the ideal first move for Skovsgaard, who will be keen to choose the right place his development.
Haaland stayed in Norway until he was 18, when he moved to Red Bull Salzburg, a club well known for their ability to develop young stars.
From one, he went to another, joining Borussia Dortmund a year later before eventually getting his big move to the Premier League.
Should Skovsgaard be capable of a similar rise, his best move may, for now, lie outside of the Premier League.
