Man United's windfall from JJ Gabriel exit as 'embarrassing' situation emerges

Manchester United will earn a compensation fee from JJ Gabriel's departure should he join another Premier League team.

That is according to former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider that Man United are better off letting him go to avoid further embarrassment.

The 15-year-old attacker has been lighting up Carrington Training Centre, most recently scoring a hat-trick against Sabah FK in the UEFA Youth League.

However, a spanner has been thrown in the works, with JJ Gabriel now wanting to terminate his contract at Old Trafford, with several clubs keeping a close eye.

Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSG and Bayern Munich are joined by a handful of Premier League teams eyeing the teenage sensation following the revelation of him wanting to leave.

He already appears to be one of the most promising youngsters in England, but the Red Devils are about to lose their grip on his signature.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson is not confident of a very big compensation fee should the 15-year-old push ahead with his exit.

"So, this is the strange thing about it. If he was going to another English club when he was 16, the conversation would only be about £100,000-£150,000 to another English team," he said.

"There'd be no conversation at all to go to a European team when he's 16. And so I just can't see United really holding him to the position. I think they'll probably let him go.

"I would argue that they would have been better off taking a stance and saying, 'Fine, you want to go, just go,' just release him and be done with it.

"Because this is embarrassing for them to have a 15-year-old dictating to them."

Which club could JJ Gabriel join?

Chelsea and Man City are amongst the Premier League clubs interested in the 15-year-old attacker, but they could struggle to sign him.

Football Insider understands that English clubs will lose out on JJ Gabriel to European clubs, whether that be PSG, Bayern Munich or a La Liga giant.

The youngster is seeking more consistent minutes at senior level, and that could be promised to him at a European giant rather than in England.

Man United are likely to deeply regret not being able to keep hold of their generational talent, with him being tipped for greatness in the future.
