Man United fans say the same thing about Joshua Zirkzee after his cameo vs Sabah
Manchester United oversaw an impressive 4-0 victory against Sabah FK on Thursday to get their Champions League campaign off to the best possible start.
Numerous players for the Red Devils put in fantastic displays, with Bruno Fernandes likely to steal the headlines after he scored once again.
However, Joshua Zirkzee’s performance from the bench has also earned plenty of praise from the fanbase after he caused all sorts of problems for Sabah FK’s defence.
After he came on in the 64th minute, the striker was excellent and was incredibly unlucky not to score.
This was despite the fact that it was the 25-year-old’s first appearance of the campaign, after being left on the bench in the previous matches.
Now, supporters are calling for Michael Carrick to give Zirkzee further opportunities to shine after his impressive cameo.
Man United supporters praise Joshua Zirkzee’s display vs Sabah FK
Zirkzee had been heavily linked with an Old Trafford departure in the summer transfer window after another toothless campaign in the Premier League last season.
Despite several interested parties, no one was able to lure the striker away from Old Trafford, with the attacker now set to play a part in the campaign.
However, this could prove to be a blessing in disguise, with Zirkzee putting in an excellent showing on Thursday.
After the game, Man United fans were quick to run to X to demand that Carrick give Zirkzee more game time after this impressive performance.
How good was Zirkzee vs Sabah FK?
According to Fotmob on 11 September, Zirkzee no doubt had an excellent game in the Championship League.
In just 26 minutes, he completed the most dribbles in the game at three, had a 100 per cent passing accuracy, fired two shots on goal, with both being on target, had an xG of 0.73 and won four of his six ground duels.
Therefore, Zirkzee could end up playing a key role in this campaign if he can keep up this level of performance at the Red Devils.
However, it remains to be seen if Carrick is willing to give the attacker more game time after his recent impressive cameo from the bench.
