Michael Carrick could be sacked by Man United 'earlier than you think'
Michael Carrick may not be far from being sacked by Manchester United.
That is according to experienced former Tottenham, Everton and Aston Villa scout Bryan King, speaking exclusively to Football Insider.
King, who has vast knowledge of how Premier League sides operate behind the scenes, believes the Englishman is dithering on the edge.
Carrick has failed to impress, with Man United stumbling early behind in the race for the top spots.
They have picked up just one win from six Premier League matches, and have just two wins in all competitions.
There is plenty of time for the Red Devils to turn things around, but whether that is with Carrick remains to be seen.
Michael Carrick sack prediction made as expected timeline given
Manchester United may be forced into a decision on Carrick if things do not begin to improve over the coming weeks.
Sacking a manager is never an easy decision to make, and the Red Devils will want to give the Englishman enough time to steer the ship in the right direction.
However, they must also consider how long they can afford to wait before making a change, particularly if performances continue to raise concerns.
"So, what do you do? Do you stick with what you've got and what you believe in? Or do you think he's not good enough? But then who do you replace him with?" King told Football Insider.
"Again, it'll be interesting to see after the weekend.
"I'd have thought maybe give him to Christmas, to be honest. But Christmas is not that far away, because there's another international break in November. The sack could be quicker than you think."
Sacking Carrick could leave Man United with just as big a problem
Ultimately, United must weigh up their belief in Carrick against the risk of allowing a difficult situation to continue for too long.
As King states, there will also need to be serious consideration over which manager comes through the Old Trafford doors next as well.
Getting rid of Carrick with no plan in place would be just as bad as keeping him around.
United have been no stranger to sacking a manager midway through a season, as shown by their last two appointments in Erik ten Hag and Ruben Amorim.
Carrick could certainly join that roll of dishonour, as negativity continues to seep throughout the fanbase.
