'Saudi offer' could be about to 'unseat Bruno Fernandes from Man United' - expert
Bruno Fernandes is almost certainly considering his future at Manchester United ahead of January and next summer.
That is according to experienced former Everton, Tottenham and Aston Villa scout, Bryan King, speaking exclusively to Football Insider.
The 32-year-old was publicly critical of Michael Carrick as the Red Devils were smashed 4-1 by Como in the Champions League on Wednesday, marking seventh consecutive match without victory.
Talks over an extension on Fernandes' current contract, which is due to expire next summer, have stalled, although Man United have the option of an additional year.
The Portugal international took aim at Carrick and the staff on Wednesday, criticising the decision to not press man to man against Cesc Fabregas' high-energy team.
The Man United boss responded in his own post-match press conference, arguing that tactics are irrelevant when players do not run forward and back.
Bruno Fernandes edging closer to exit
Should Fernandes decide to leave Man United, he will not be short of offers.
Al Hilal were reportedly willing to pay up to £100million to sign the midfielder in 2025, and they may well return once more.
"Whether they could afford to let him move on, personally, I don't think so. Not looking at their team," King told Football Insider. "Because although they're in the Champions League, they look a very ordinary side in the Premier League.
"He's a very good player. His passing, shooting from distance, setting up free kicks. He's always going to be an important part of a football team, especially when they're not playing the kind of football that you want them to play.
"Is he considering his future? He'll certainly have a big move. It'll be interesting to see whether the offer from Saudi Arabia is going to unseat him at Man United.
"He's not getting any younger. And offers like, be it from Saudi Arabia, are offers that, invariably, if you want to secure your future, that's how you do it."
Michael Carrick cannot hold back
Fernandes is one of the few great Man United players from the last decade - the midfielder has been consistently excellent for seven years.
Yet in taking aim at Carrick publicly, he has stepped over the line and must now be made an example of.
Should the manager wish to remain in his role and maintain any authority, there is simply no way that the 32-year-old can start the next game.
Unfortunately for Man United, a chain of events has now been put into action that may well see the end of Fernandes' time at Old Trafford.
