Sources reveal Man United's Mason Mount plan after pre-season showing
Mason Mount's future has been a major talking point at Old Trafford as Michael Carrick reshapes his squad this summer.
Supporters have raised huge concerns over the player's eye-watering wages after Manchester United qualified for the Champions League last season.
It is understood that the 27-year-old's salary could be as much as £250,000-a-week, despite having played just 25 games last season.
Mount has come nowhere near his 2021-22 season, when he notched 13 goals and 16 assists in 53 games for Chelsea, but fans will be hopeful of a revival in 2026-27.
That is, of course, if he remains at Old Trafford ahead of next season, and all signs from the outside are point towards him staying for at least one more year.
Contracted until the summer of 2028, Mount has played the entire 90 minutes against Atletico Madrid on Saturday, 1 August, after also starting against Rosenborg.

Instead of his usual attacking midfield role, Shea Lacey's involvement during pre-season has seen Mount drop into a deeper-lying position.
It is understood that his performances in pre-season so far have forced him into the manager's plans, being seen as a partner to Andrey Santos.
That is if the former Chelsea star can stay fit, and with both Youri Tielemans and Kobbie Mainoo yet to return, there will be plenty of competition in the middle of the park.
Mount's career at the Theatre of Dreams looked dead and buried, even ever since he was signed in 2023, but there is always a chance at revival.
What do we know about Mount's contract situation?
As previously stated, the 26-year-old could be on upwards of £250,000-a-week, amassing £13million every year that he's at Old Trafford.
Even on his predicted £200,000-a-week in 2025-26, he would have been paid £416,000 per game, having been injured for so long.
He signed a five-year deal in 2023, and with an option of an extra year, unless Man United can find a potential buyer, his future looks set in Trafford.
Many will suggest that signing the midfielder was a huge mistake from the hierarchy, especially given his wages, but 2026-27 might just surprise a few.
