Bayern Munich are ready to end talk of Harry Kane returning to the Premier League by tying him down to a new contract, sources have told Football Insider.

Kane is a leading contender for the Ballon d'Or right now following a triumphant 2025-26 season in which he bagged 64 goals for Bayern Munich.

The 33-year-old also broke the record for the fastest player to reach 100 Bundesliga goals as his double helped Bayern thrash Union Berlin 7-0 on Friday night.

Kane has scored 150 goals in 153 appearances since joining the German giants in 2023, and impressed at the World Cup this summer with six strikes in seven outings as England captain.

His future has been widely debated as he nears the end of his initial Bayern contract in June 2027.

Several top clubs across world football are keen on his services, but as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Bayern are confident of agreeing a new deal with Kane in the coming months.

They are looking to extend his current contract to 2029, with a potential Premier League return set to be delayed until he is 36-years-old at the very least.

Harry Kane's Premier League return is looking increasingly unlikely

Sources exclusively revealed to Football Insider in the summer that Bayern were readying contract talks with Kane as he prepared to enter the final year of his deal.

He has been linked with a return to Spurs, as well as joining Man United, but a new contract is likely to be agreed soon.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "Bayern are very optimistic that they can sort out this new contract with Harry Kane. Talks are ongoing. They have been for a while now to try and secure his long-term future in Bavaria.

"He is into the final year of his contract, but Bayern are looking to tie him down to a new deal until 2029. He's doing so well for them, breaking record after record, and Bayern are in no rush to see Kane leave."

What has Kane said about extending his contract?

Kane has started this campaign in predictably strong form, with four goals and two assists in six appearances so far.

He has long been linked with a return to English football while the Premier League all-time scoring record remains within his reach, but recently insisted that staying at Bayern is firmly in his plans.

Speaking to reporters last week, he said: "We had conversations a couple of weeks ago and some more this week. As I said before, a contract doesn’t happen overnight - it takes time to digest and see how we can make it the best case possible for everyone involved.

"I don’t expect it to be done in the next week or two, but hopefully in the next one or two months we should be where we want to be. Right now I’m at a happy place. I’m sure in due time you’ll know about the details and get the answers you’re looking for. All I can say now is that the conversations are going well."
