Alphonso Davies is admired by Manchester United but Bayern Munich have no plans in place to let him leave in the summer window.

United are keeping tabs on Davies ahead of the summer as they eye a new left-back signing to compete with Luke Shaw.

He has seen his 2025-26 campaign hampered by injuries, but is regarded as one of the best in the world in his position when fully fit and firing on all cylinders.

Davies is liked by United's chiefs, but as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, Bayern have no plans to let him leave anytime soon.

Man United’s transfer plans are on hold as they aim to seal a top-five Premier League finish, but they may need to move on to other targets at left-back when the summer window comes around.

Bayern do not want Alphonso Davies to join Man United

The pacy nature of Davies’ game means he is highly susceptible to muscle injuries, and he is currently sidelined with a hamstring tear after making just eight league appearances all season.

He is still only 25 and could be a top signing for the Red Devils if they are willing to gamble on his fitness holding up, but Bayern remain keen to keep hold of him despite his injury woes.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "Bayern will be hoping that Davies can return to his best by recovering his full fitness, because on his day, he's one of the best full-backs in Europe, there's no getting away from that.

"I don't think Bayern will be entertaining offers for him unless it is an offer which is too good to turn down.

"They'll be hoping that he can return to full fitness and recapture his best form because, as I said, he's one of the best full-backs in Europe and Bayern really wouldn't want to let him go to anybody else."

Myles Lewis-Skelly is another left-back on Man United's radar

Sources have exclusively told Football Insider that Man United are interested in Lewis-Skelly as he struggles for game time at Arsenal.

The England international has started just one Premier League match so far this term, following a breakout 2024-25 season at the Emirates Stadium.

He is believed to be open to a move away from his boyhood club in the summer, with the Red Devils seeing him as a long-term replacement for Shaw.

It remains to be seen if their interest in Davies progresses into talks between the two clubs, but with that move seeming unlikely, Lewis-Skelly may well emerge as their top left-back target.
