Mika Godts has emerged as a target for Manchester United among other Premier League clubs thanks to his performances for Ajax this season.

The 20-year-old is attracting interest from clubs across Europe after an outstanding season, with a move to the Premier League believed to be tempting for him.

He has already made over 100 senior appearances for Ajax, has two caps for the Belgium national team, and is now ready to make the step away from the Dutch club.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that the club's recruitment team have been keeping a close eye on Godts' displays in the Eredivisie.

The Red Devils have been impressed by his performances for Ajax and are prepared to rival other clubs in their pursuit ahead of a busy transfer window for Man United.

Could Man United beat rivals to sign Mika Godts?

Football Insider previously revealed that Man United want to sign a left-winger and view the position as a priority alongside their pursuit of a new central midfielder.

Godts has played the majority of his football on the left-hand side, although he is also capable of cutting inside from the right, and could be a versatile option.

There is now shortage of interest in the winger ahead of the summer transfer window, but he is widely expected to move on, and Man United are keen to win the race.

"When there's a talent like that, clubs are undoubtably going to be interested," Brown told Football Insider.

"I must admit, I don't know much about the boy, but Man United will because they've had scouts and the recruitment team watching him.

"There are always scouts in Holland keeping an eye on the best players and young talents there.

"They've got to know the ins and outs of how good he is, where he would fit in their team, whether he's better than other options they're looking at.

"Does he have any major weaknesses to his game or areas he needs to improve? These are all questions Man United will be answering with the recruitment team.

"By all accounts, he's having a very impressive season for Ajax, so that's the first positive.

"When a player's name starts to come up in different conversations, lots of clubs are made aware, and then they start having a look at him as well.

"So it's up to Man United to decide whether he's the player they want to come in and play that role on the left-hand side, and then they can try to get the deal done."

Who else is interested in signing Godts?

Man United are far from the only Premier League club keeping an eye on the Belgium international, with the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool also heavily linked.

Footage of his spectacular goal against NAC Breda quickly went viral on social media, and scouts from a number of top European clubs were in attendance.

As Brown explained, Man United scouts were among them, while Football Insider reported on 12 April that Newcastle could look to sign Godts to bolster their ranks.

That interest comes amid speculation surrounding Anthony Gordon's future and a growing feeling that he could leave St James' Park this summer.

The Magpies have begun assessing potential alternatives as a result, and could join their Premier League rivals in the race to lure him yo England.
