Manchester United's summer transfer plans will be kickstarted by the sale of midfielder Manuel Ugarte.

Ugarte has been unable to force himself into Michael Carrick's plans at Old Trafford, and looks set to leave the club at the end of the season.

The 24-year-old has interest from multiple European clubs, including Juventus, who are believed to be among the front-runners for his signature.

Corriere dello Sport in Italy reports that Juventus are willing to pay the £35million valuation for Ugarte in the summer if they qualify for the Champions League.

The funds would be a boost to Man United's transfer plans, with the Red Devils linked with moves for Sandro Tonali and Elliot Anderson.

European and Premier League clubs in Manuel Ugarte transfer race

Juventus currently sit fifth in Serie A, outside the Champions League places by a point with seven matches of the season remaining.

Whilst Juventus are keen to sign Ugarte, Corriere dello Sport claim that Galatasaray, Newcastle and Aston Villa are also interested in his signature if the Italian club do not qualify for the Champions League and can not agree a deal.

Manuel Ugarte's stats for Man United this season in the Premier League.

Man United are already losing Casemiro at the end of the season, and it would be in their best interests to agree a quick sale for Ugarte.

Transfer targets Tonali and Anderson are both set to cost upwards of £70m, whilst the latter's involvement in the World Cup could boost his fee higher.

The Red Devils also face competition from rivals Manchester City for both players, and the Citizens have greater financial powers to get a deal across the line.

Man United make decision over Elliot Anderson

Former chief scout at Old Trafford Mick Brown told Football Insider that Tonali is a top target for Man United amid fears they will miss out on Anderson.

With the 25-year-old not participating in this summer's World Cup, plans to sign the Italian could accelerate early in the window.

Champions League football will be a factor in Tonali joining the club, with Newcastle set to miss out on European competition altogether this season.

Ugarte leaving Old Trafford for £35m would free up space in the budget for Tonali to sign and could be the start of an ambitious summer of strengthening the squad under Carrick.
