Sources: Burnley in talks to sign Man United's Harry Amass

Burnley are in talks over a late move to sign Manchester United left-back Harry Amass, sources have told Football Insider.

The Championship side are currently locked in discussions with the Red Devils, with the possibility of either a permanent or a loan deal on the table.

Amass has been linked with a whole host of Championship clubs in recent weeks, but it is Burnley who have now come to the fore ahead of Tuesday night's 11pm deadline.

The two clubs are in ongoing contact over a deal for the 19-year-old, with United set to decide whether to sanction a permanent exit or send Amass out on loan again.

The promising young defender split last season across loan spells with both Sheffield Wednesday and Norwich City.

He made 22 Championship appearances across those two spells away from Old Trafford, and also chipped in with a goal and an assist.

Burnley want permanent deal for Harry Amass

Amass is widely regarded as one of United's most promising young talents, but he has not been able to truly break into the first team yet.

He made his Premier League debut for his boyhood club back in the 2024-25 campaign, but has since had to be content with academy football when he's not been out on loan.

He featured for Michael Carrick's side on several occasions in pre-season, but has been consigned to U21 action in Premier League 2 in recent weeks.

As a result, Burnley are preparing a move to try and prise the starlet away from United, and offer him the chance of regular first-team football.

The Clarets are open to a loan move for Amass, but also have a genuine belief that they may be able to tempt United into a straight sale.

Nicky Hayen's side are big admirers of the youngster, and feel he has the potential to develop into a top player.

Man United ready offer for new left-back

Football Insider revealed last week that United are ready to make an offer to sign Barcelona left-back Alejandro Balde before the end of the window.

The 22-year-old has fallen out of favour at the Camp Nou, and is expected to be available for transfer before the window draws to a close.

United have been prioritising a new left-back since the start of the summer, and are prepared to accelerate towards a deal for Balde.

They haven't turned to Amass to provide cover for Luke Shaw so far, and are now about to add another player in his position.
