Sadio Mane could become Jurgen Klopp’s first major signing of the summer in a deal worth a whopping £72.5million, according to a report.

The Daily Mail claim that Liverpool are in pole position to land Mane as they continue to raid Southampton for their star players.

Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren and Nathaniel Clyne have all previously swapped the south- coast for Merseyside since 2014 but the money involved in the Mane transfer could exceed that quartet.

The Sun claim Southampton are only willing to listen to offers around the £40m mark before they would consider parting with their prized asset.

It is said that Mane has also made it clear that he will demand wages of £125,000-a-week to move to Anfield, which would cost £32.5million over the entirety of a five-year contract.

Mane has staked his claim in the last two years to be one of the outstanding wide players in the Premier League.

He scored 13 goals and supplied nine assists from 40 matches in his debut campaign and followed it up with an even more impressive 15 goals and nine assists from 43 matches in 2015-16.

The Senegal international, 24, has two years left on his current deal allowing Southampton to command a significant fee.
