Ruben Amorim will demand to see more from Marcus Rashford if he wants to keep his place in the Man United starting XI, according to the club's former chief scout.

Mick Brown, who worked at Old Trafford for over a decade during their most successful period and remains very well-connected there, exclusively told Football Insider that the 27-year-old needs to prove he is willing to work hard both on and off the pitch.

Amorim is expected to stick to the use of two wide players in his system, and will assess the players in training to decide who will remain in the side.

With the recent form shown by Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo, the new boss has been given a decision to make for his starting team against Ipswich.

Based on the way his Sporting CP side set up, Brown has insisted that Amorim wants to see high energy and pressing from his wingers - something Rashford has not shown in recent weeks.

The manager is set to choose two of the three wing options for a starting role, and it has been said the England international will have to show more to convince him he should keep his place.

Now, Brown, who has a wealth of experience in player recruitment and development at the top level, has insisted that the winger will need to step up his displays to prove to the boss that he still has a big part to play in this team.

"He needs to see more from Rashford," he told Football Insider.

"If you look at the way his Sporting side plays, the wingers are very high-energy, pressing and tracking back and working hard on and off the ball.

"You won't get a more energetic front three than they have at Sporting.

"For whatever reason, we haven't seen that from Marcus recently.

"Amad has stepped up recently, Garnacho had a kick up the backside when he was left out, but came on and made a difference.

"Now Rashford need to start showing he can provide that same type of energy.

"So it's a question of which two of those three he goes with, and that'll be up to them and their performances in training.

"Amorim has the options available to him to play that sort of football, but they all, and Rashford in particular, need to prove to him that they're willing to work hard to make it work."
